Hopeless Romantic

I am ever the hopeless romantic, if only in my brain. My heart, on the other hand, has quite a different perspective on that subject.

Introspective searching . . . Perhaps it’s the fact I am no longer a needy woman. I actually like myself, my own company. How many people can truly make that statement?

Certainly it took a lot of years, introspect, and counseling, after the throes of quite a number of broken families as I was growing up, as well as my own broken marriage and a few broken hearts thereafter along the way.

And all during those alone years afterwards, I’d leave the house on weekends not because I was bored, but because I don’t believe I truly liked my own company.

While writing my online dating bio, I’ve added, ‘I am a complete person, you should be as well.’ I see so many men seeking someone to ‘complete’ them. Sounds a lot like, ‘Seeking my better half.’ Are you saying you are not the good half and you need someone better than you? Are you saying you’re not a whole person, sans a woman?

Just think about it for a moment . . . Because truly, if you are not happy in your own skin and you require another person to ‘complete’ you . . . I’ve actually seen men’s dating Headlines stating “Alone and Bored”.

Don’t wait! Don’t wait for “The One” to grace your presence. It may never happen!

What I’ve learned along the way is: Happiness comes from within, not the other way around.

External happiness are fleeting moments; internal is forever! Love Yourself. Be Happy with who you are. Complete Yourself!
